About the author

A researcher combining the study of the microbiome and the nervous system with the popularisation of nutrition knowledge.

Jakub Wiącek is a PhD student and a research and teaching staff member at the Department of Food and Nutrition of the Eugeniusz Piasecki Academy of Physical Education in Poznań. His research focuses on the interrelationships between the gut microbiome and the endocannabinoid system. He holds a master's degree in neurobiology and a bachelor's degree in dietetics. He is the author and coordinator of a clinical study, as well as an author and reviewer of scientific papers published in international journals.

His professional experience encompasses not only research but also extensive writing. As a copywriter specialising in supplementation, health and nutrition, he has written several hundred popular-science texts (mainly for websites associated with SFD S.A.). As an academic teacher and instructor on courses for personal trainers and dietitians, he shares his knowledge of sports nutrition and supplementation. He also carries out educational work through social media and digital publications (Jakub Wiącek – NEUROSPORT).

He is also the author of the book “Weganin wiedzieć winien” (“What a Vegan Should Know”), published by the PWN Scientific Publishers — a practical guide for people on a plant-based diet that combines reliable scientific knowledge with concrete advice on how to compose a well-balanced menu.
